Poundbury Chiropractic provides personalised spinal rehabilitation and biomechanical care from a three-clinician team — chiropractic, exercise rehabilitation and soft tissue therapy under one roof. Every course of care begins with a full history, orthopaedic and neurological examination, and a written plan.

The team is three clinicians: Martyn Clark, who founded the practice in 2022, leads on chiropractic assessment and biomechanics; Elise Humphries on physical rehabilitation and exercise therapy; and Elaine Hourihan on soft tissue and sports massage therapy.

The practice holds the Royal College of Chiropractors’ Patient Partnership Quality Mark and Clinical Management Quality Mark. Care covers back and neck pain, sciatica, disc problems, headaches and migraine, peripheral joint problems, paediatric chiropractic and maintenance care.

Chiropractic consultations run from 08:00 to 20:00. Urgent consultations outside those hours are available at £200.00, arranged through the main clinic line.

Care is provided under the standards of the General Chiropractic Council. Where a presentation is not musculoskeletal, or falls outside chiropractic scope, you are told at the first visit and referred on — to the Dorset Private Medical Clinic, Wessex Private GP, or back to the NHS as appropriate.

Initial assessment & treatment

Sixty minutes. Full case history, orthopaedic, neurological and biomechanical examination, and treatment on the same visit. £70.00.

A personalised plan

A working diagnosis, the treatment proposed, the number of visits expected, and the point at which we stop and reassess — set out in writing before a course of care begins.

Rehabilitation and discharge

Follow-up sessions run twenty minutes at £49.00, with soft tissue therapy and exercise rehabilitation alongside where indicated. Progress is re-measured against the original examination and care stops when the objective is met.

Martyn established Poundbury Chiropractic in 2022 and has practised for over a decade. He works from the position that every patient and every injury is different, and builds a personalised treatment plan on that basis rather than a standard protocol. Under his leadership the practice holds the Royal College of Chiropractors’ Patient Partnership Quality Mark and Clinical Management Quality Mark, and he is a PRT trainer for the College.

Elise is an AECC graduate with more than twelve years of clinical experience across surgical care, intensive care and private practice. Her focus is patient-centred rehabilitation and she is a strong advocate for the role of exercise in recovery. She rows competitively along the south coast.

Soft Tissue Therapist

Elaine came to soft tissue therapy after twenty-five years in a corporate environment, and has worked at the University of Bath Elite Athlete Clinic. She treats sports recovery, repetitive strain and stress-related tension. Outside the clinic she cycles, swims, weight trains and gardens in Dorset.
